The kind where the cover is better than the original, or as Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor said when he heard Johnny Cash record Hurt, "I just lost my song".
1) John Zorn - T.V. Eye 2) Johnny Cash - Hurt 3) Peter Gabriel - My Body Is A Cage 4) The Flying Lizards - Money 5) Barenaked Ladies - Lovers In A Dangerous Time

I'm sure I mentioned this once on the old site, but where Led Zeppelin's Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is a wave of majesty, I have tried a couple of times to listen to Joan Baez's original all the way through, and before switching off in a bad mood at her caterwauling, two thoughts occur:
1. How did the band recognise the potential in this and revolutionise it, and; 2. How the hell did they like her enough to cover one of her songs? She's rubbish.

And on the topic of waves of majesty, gaze in wonder and awe at Jeff Healey's mullet in that clip. Reverance is due.

You can't blame a blind man for bad hair.

No mention for SLF - Johnny Was?
The Rolling Stones - I wanna be your man (A Beatles cover better than the original - ooo!)
Dave Edmunds - Girls Talk
Aretha Franklin - Satisfaction
The Fall - Lost in Music (Actually, that's probably not better than the original, but quite good all the same...)
